- Measurements of every window. Exact sizes for each opening, so your price is based on your home, not an average.
- A frame and condition check. We look for rot, water damage, failed seals and gaps that cause drafts or leaks, and tell you if anything needs repair first.
- Your options, explained plainly. Standard energy-efficient replacement windows or hurricane impact windows, frame materials, styles (double hung, casement, sliding, picture and more) and glass packages.
- Windstorm and HOA requirements. If your home is in the TWIA coverage area or has HOA rules, we explain what your windows need to meet them.
- A written estimate. Windows, installation, trim, cleanup, permits, and windstorm certification are listed, so you can compare bids fairly.

Standard or Impact Windows?
Standard replacement windows lower energy bills, cut drafts and outside noise, and update the look of your home. They’re a good fit for most homes away from the coast.
Hurricane impact windows use laminated glass that stays in the frame if it cracks, which helps keep wind and rain out during a storm. They are often required for windstorm certification in coastal areas, and many owners choose them for added security even when they aren’t required. Impact windows cost more than standard windows. We’ll show you both prices so you can decide.
Windstorm Certification (TWIA) for Coastal Homes
If your home is in the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) coverage area, which includes Galveston County, Brazoria County and parts of Harris County, new windows must meet the Texas windstorm building code. A Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) appointed engineer inspects the work and issues a certificate of compliance (form WPI-8). Without it, you may not be able to get or renew TWIA coverage.
Master Remodelers installs windows to windstorm code and schedules the engineer inspection, so you receive your WPI-8 certificate when the job is done. Not sure if your address is in the TWIA area? Tell us on the form and we’ll check.
Storm Damage and Insurance Claims
If a storm broke or damaged your windows, call (713) 705-9583 first. We document the damage with photos and measurements and give you a detailed written estimate to send to your insurance company. You or your public adjuster handle the claim itself. See storm and disaster repairs (link: /disaster-repairs-remodeling/) for other damage.
What Affects the Price of Replacement Windows
Every home is different, which is why we measure before we quote. The biggest price factors are:
- Number and size of windows. Large and oversized windows cost more.
- Standard or impact glass. Impact windows cost more but may be required near the coast.
- Frame material. Vinyl, [CONFIRM: fiberglass, composite, aluminum] and wood differ in cost, upkeep and lifespan.
- Style and shape. Casement, bay, bow and custom shapes cost more than standard double hung or sliding windows.
- Installation type. An insert installation fits the new window into the existing frame. A full-frame replacement removes the old frame, and is needed when the frame is rotted or damaged.
- Repairs and code requirements. Rot repair, permits and windstorm certification can add to the total.

Free Window Estimate FAQs
Yes. The visit, measurements and written estimate are free, and you are under no obligation to hire us.
Most visits take about an hour, depending on how many windows we measure.
We can give you a general range if you tell us how many windows you have and send photos. A written estimate requires measurements, because window sizes, frame condition and code requirements change the price.
If your home is in the TWIA coverage area, new windows must meet the windstorm code, which often means impact windows or approved storm protection. Outside that area, impact windows are optional. We'll tell you what your address requires.
Many Texas insurers offer discounts for wind-resistant windows and openings, but the amount depends on your policy. Ask your insurance agent, and we'll give you the product paperwork they need.
We schedule the TDI-appointed engineer's inspection and give you the WPI-8 certificate when the job is complete.
Most homes take 1 to 2 days to install once the windows arrive.
